PUP-DATE ~ Ozzy has found a great home with a great family. He will also have horses, goats & chickens to pal around with him. His veteran mommy is very happy that we helped find him a good home so she can now be at ease.
Look at this boy Ozzy, he is a Great Pyrenees and he needs to find a new home because he doesn't like his dominant brother but he does love kids and smaller animals. He is shy around men so he would be better off with a woman in the house.
He is microchipped and up-to-date on all his vet stuff. He was neutered in July and is a new years baby who will be 2 this year.
Let's see if we can find him a happy home with room to run and space to play.
If you or someone you know want to meet him please email our pet coordinator at email@example.com to make arrangements. ... ExpandSee Less

Great tutorial on dog play.
Dog-Dog play is often misunderstood. It can involve biting, fighting, chasing, pinning, barking, and growling. With all that activity it can sometimes be difficult to tell if it is play or the real thing. So, how do we tell? ... ExpandSee Less

In just three short weeks we will be putting together Christmas packages for some veterans in the veterans homes in Winooski & Northfield. If anybody would like to help us out by baking some cookies to help us fill these gift bags that would be great, we usually make about 50. We do have some diabetic veterans so if anybody can make some sugar free goodies that would be great too.
We will need them on December 15th around 10am at the American Legion in Colchester, if you are interested in making some you can either comment or send us a message. ... ExpandSee Less

Had to take a ride to Johnson Woolen Mills, for matching outfits, perfect for a peaceful morning watching ducks on the pond...
I sure wish that I could get this article in a link. I think it's one of the best stories written about the pet program. Thanks Ruthie Laroche from the County Courier.
I have to share an email response that I got this week by the veteran who is in the picture when I asked him how things were going with Banana;
"Banana is moody as ever. We're in our twos, and, the struggle is real. She currently has "her" platform on one of the towers at school (Gulliver's). I injured my leg this summer so we spent most of our time at Mills River Park. She gets to socialize with other dogs, and I get to meet other dog owners. As it turns colder we've had to do more indoor activities. She thinks the living room is a raquetball court for her toys.
I am extremely grateful for her presence. I wouldn't be able to sleep at night without her being near me. On days when I am unable to be social, or afraid to go out amongst others, she is there, always ready to play. I confide everything to her. People stare at us arguing in the Jeep! (She has her own ways of winning arguments btw).
This Christmas she is getting a new downstairs bed, a sqeaky chicken, and a collar that has a work tie so she can dress up for school!
Thank you all so much for such an amazing gift!
Be well," ... ExpandSee Less
I’m a mental health therapist & my rescue dog Josie is being trained to get certified as a therapy dog. The sense of comfort, grounding, acceptance & connection she offers my clients is it’s own kind of therapy. Grateful to have her as my therapeutic side kick! 💗
Wow!! Really cool!!
Such an amazing organization! You are doing such great work!
We had our two service dogs in training graduate today, they were both in training for quite awhile (since 2016) and were ready to get their vest on and go home, it was a long day for them but they both did very well during the meeting and ceremony. We are so grateful for the contracted trainers, the puppy raiser and especially the Essex Rotary for all of their support to help our veterans. ~ more photos to follow at a later date 🙂 ...
